About the lettering

The logo began as S. Neil Fujita's hand-drawn lettering for Mario Puzo's novel and carried over to the film: white serif capitals on black, with the word THE set small above, its T extended into the hand holding puppet strings. Because it was drawn, not typeset, no font is the original, Corleone is a reconstruction made three decades later.
